The Divers Alert Network (DAN) and DAN Asia-Pacific
The Divers Alert Network (DAN) is a global network of not-for-profit member-based dive health and safety organizations dedicated to advancement of dive safety for the recreational diving community. DAN offers Members evacuation coverage for diving and non-diving accidents from almost anywhere in the world (see the website for full information) as well as optional Dive Injury Insurance Plans to cover the cost of treatment and certain other costs associated with a covered diving accident.
Founded in 1980, DAN’s mission is to be the most recognized and trusted organization worldwide in the fields of diver safety and emergency services, health, research and education of its members, instructors, supporters and the recreational diving community at large.
Wherever members live or dive around the world they have peace of mind knowing that DAN is available 24/7 to assist in the event of an accident.
In addition, DAN strives to improve the safety of diving, via activities that include:
- Providing Worldwide Emergency Evacuation Coverage for Members
- Providing optional Dive Injury Insurance Services for Members
- Funding and/or manning 24-hour diving emergency hotlines throughout the region
- Offering non-emergency diving medical advice, accident management training
- Undertaking data collection and conduct vital research to enhance dive safety
The Divers Alert Network is supported by membership dues and donations. In return, members receive a number of important benefits including $100,000 emergency medical evacuation assistance, DAN educational publications, a subscription to Alert Diver magazine, and access to diving's first and foremost accident insurance coverage.
As a DAN Sponsor, Waterlines receive AUD$ 7.50 from DAN Asia-Pacific for every new member we orient to them.
